ANIMALS is an abridged chapter taken from the forthcoming graphic novel titled THIS TENDERNESS IN THE ATTENDING, by Catia Chien and Michael Belcher.

THIS TENDERNESS IN THE ATTENDING is about trauma, contemplation, and insight. The fictional story depicts a series of unique events in ordinary peoples' lives during which they experience a personal paradigm shift, or somthing like a "moment of clarity." The graphic novel explores how these moments alter their world view, broaden their awareness, or grant them access to what Buddhists might call Prajn—an understanding of the true nature of existence.
