When is The Carle Bookshop open?

The Carle Bookshop is open during all museum open hours.

You do not need to pay admission to visit the store. If you would like to enjoy the museum beyond the Bookshop, please be sure to stop at the admissions desk before you do.

How can I contact the Shop?

To speak to a bookseller, please call (413) 559-6331. Calls will only be answered during open hours. Please feel free to leave a message if the line is busy or you call outside of business hours. We will respond to messages within 2 business days. You may also email us at shop@carlemuseum.org. We will respond within 5 business days.

How do I log in to the Shop website? 

New and returning customers can log in or create an account by clicking on the user icon (looks like a little person) at the top right of the screen. Follow the directions provided to receive a randomly generated email passcode that allows for the best shopping experience. 

Do I have to log in to the website to make a purchase?

You can browse the site without an account, but all carts, wishlists, and favorites will not be saved once you exit the site. You will have to create an account (quick and easy!) to buy any items online.

What countries can I ship to?

You can ship to almost all countries! We apologize that we are unable to ship to UK and EU destinations at this time. 

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping Rates are determined by UPS and USPS. The best way to check shipping options is to fill a cart and begin the checkout process. Once a shipping address is entered, shipping options will appear.

How long does shipping take?

We do our best to ship quickly and with care, but we cannot guarantee delivery times. Most orders are processed within 1 business day and arrive within 5 business days.

If you need fast shipping from USPS or UPS, that option is available at checkout. We will do our best to ship in your desired timeline.

Can I pick up my order in store?

Yes, simply mark this option as you check out online. Please note that all in store pickup orders must be retrieved within 30 days. We will call you or send an email notification when your order is ready to pick up. 

After 30 days from the pick up notification, your order will be returned for Store Credit.

How do I get my member/staff/volunteer discount?

You will need to log in to get your discount. Museum members get a 15% discount. If your membership is active, your discount will be applied automatically at checkout. Become a member and save now!

Common reasons that your discount may not be showing up include but are not limited to:

  • You have not logged in
  • Your membership has expired (you may choose to renew it)
  • We have a different name or email address associated with your account

I’m not a member, how can I save on my purchase?

We have sales and promotions throughout the year that provide extra discounts. These discounts stack with membership discounts for further savings.

Sales discounts will be applied automatically to qualifying items in your cart. 

Promotions require a coupon code at checkout.

Can I return an item?

All items are returnable for store credit within 30 days of purchase when in resaleable condition and accompanied by a receipt. To return items purchased online, please use the following address:

A phone call or email notification beforehand is always appreciated.

An item in my order is missing/damaged.

Our apologies for the error. Please reach out to let us know. We will work with you to provide a refund or replacement shipment as best we can. 

If items were damaged during transit, we can assist you with submitting a claim to UPS or USPS.

How can I purchase a gift card?

We have museum gift cards available online and in person. We can ship the card to a recipient of your choosing for free if you select the Gift Card Free Shipping option at checkout. Gift cards can be used to purchase items in The Carle Bookshop or admission to the museum.

Can I pay for my order using a gift card/store credit? 

Yes. When you are ready to check out, please enter the gift card number (on the back of your card) into the Gift Card data field. Click apply. The available balance will be subtracted from your total.
